 Stratford Starling Spectacular
« Result #4 on Nov 19, 2009, 4:54pm »

Last night at Stratford Hide before dusk the Starling roost was awesome.
Large flocks of Starling were continually speeding past the hide, only feet away, from North to South, and into the reeds in Stratford Bay. A conservative total of something like in excess of 10,000 birds.
Well worth stopping by (with a permit), for some breathtaking displays!
Also yesterday the redhead Smew was showing well off the North shore of Heron's Green Bay (after last April re-named "Purple Heron's Green Bay".) ;)
The Black-Necked Grebe was flaunting itself in front of Moreton Hide. At least 5 Water Pipits were on the deck to the right and in front of Stratford Hide and the drake Froooge was distant in the aythya flocks North of the hide.
Ps Slimbridge is pretty good for the Starling roosts at the moment. Standing near the Tundra Pen towards dusk can be quite an experience!

 BOC website
« Result #7 on Nov 6, 2009, 1:01pm »

Hi everyone

Huge apologies for the BOC website being unavailable for the past 2 weeks due to Yahoo.

Hopefully things will be almost back to normal.
You may see that the sightings page is the July sightings - we hope to rectify this in the next few days.

Apologies again,

Ed

I think might be a good idea to post a message on here explaining what is happening to the BOC web site. I know Ed put a brief message on the Bristol Wildlife email board but not everyone subscribes to it.

regards
Richard

:'(
Unfortunately you still have a problem with the web site unless you have changed the name/address.

Regards
Richard
