 Glossy Ibis on the coast

I received a call from Phil Baber this afternoon who said that he had just had a Glossy Ibis flying from Severn Beach along the coast heading towards New Passage. Luckily for me I was at New Passage and 60 seconds later it flew low over the New Passage pines and continued onto Northwick Warth. For some strange reason it caused a lot panic amongst the roosting wadrs and ducks. It landed briefly in long grass on the salt marsh only to be mobbed and chased off by crows a few minutes later. some images can be seen of the first Severnside and South Gloucestershire record at www.severnsidebirds.co.uk

following a sucessful trip to Surrey this morning to see the Brown Shrike near Heathrow Airport, I have had a cracking day.

Many thanks to Phil for the call and to Pam for finding it.

I really HOPE they saw it!

Hats off to Pam and the invention of the mobile phone! ;D
